Human Nature

Human nature in the present day is fundamentally full of possibility. Every individual human is different, yet similar to others. For example, all humans have similar internal bone structures, but on the outside everyone is different. This is why humans are full of possibility. Even though most people have the same functions, everyone is structured differently through personality and appearance.        I believe that humans are fundamentally full of possibility because of my past experiences going to summer camp. I have met a variety of people in a variety of places. Through meeting people from all over the country and even some from foreign countries, I have experienced first hand that no one is the same. This is why you never know what to expect out of someone because everyone is full of possibilities.

What major changes have you experienced from middle school to high school?

The jump from middle school to high school wasn't too drastic for me. In 8th grade the teachers started preparing us, so I pretty much knew what to expect. Although, I realized that the work load changed a ton. In middle school, all of our teachers communicated about test dates and due dates for projects because everyone took those classes. All of the graded assignments were evenly spread out and never got piled up on one day. This aspect of middle school was really helpful because I never got stressed out about schoolwork.        The difference from this in high school is every one takes tons of different classes. It is impossible for the teachers to keep track of everyones due dates. There are some days when I barely have any homework and studying to do, but then the end of the week comes and I have tests, quizzes, and graded work all due on one day. It is just a matter of planning out and getting organized for me because it is a huge change in school work from middle sch

Fall Break Free Post

Fall break is definitely one of my favorite breaks. It is a great break from school to relax and have fun. This past break, my mom and one of my friends mom surprised us with a trip to New York for our birthdays. We were both super excited and could not wait until we got there.        We had to get up at 3:30 Thursday morning to get to New Orleans to catch our flight. After the short plane ride, we did not waste any time, we jumped right in to doing things. We shopped the first day and went out to dinner for an early birthday dinner at the Sugar Factory. The next few days, we spent in Central Park, Little Italy, Brooklyn, and SoHo. Also, we went to see Hamilton. It was awesome! Overall, I had a very fun fall break and got a good break from studying and homework.

A & P

A and P is a short story that expresses the cultural shift the the 50s to the 60s. Sammy is the main character and he is kind of weird He is also kind of judgy because he insults the customers who walk in. A group of girls in bathing suits walked in and Sammy was not paying attention to his customers, but only them. From the setting of the store, you can tell that it is a boring day in the store because he is so interested in the girls.         At the end of the story, Sammy quit his job in hopes of getting attention from the girls. He is working at A and P to support his family, so his life might change because he quit. This was a very stubborn act of Sammy because he did not have good intentions of doing it. The author described Sammy in ways that helped lead up to the conclusion. He did a good job to help the reader understand, but sometimes it went too far. Overall, A and P's setting and characters were very evident because of the descriptions throughout the story.

Short Story

Rebecca's alarm started blaring at 5:55 am. She did not even hesitate that it was so early, she immediately got up. Rebecca burst out of her bed and immediately started to get ready. Her mom screamed from downstairs, "Becca, hurry up! Be ready in 5 minutes!" Rebecca chimed back, "Okay I'll be down in a second!" There was no time to lose, the tide was going to get too rough even if they were 10 minutes late. All ready to go in their swimsuits, Becca and her mom drove along the scenic highway to a nearby beach in California. The views were gorgeous, the water had the perfect tide, and there was not a cloud in sight. They hurried out of the car and jumped right into paddling in the freezing water.

Reading Response: Harrison Bergeron

Harrison Bergeron was a very interesting short story. After reading it, I really had to process what was going on because of all the different action happening. The story is set in 2081, where everyone is equal. There is not one person who is better than another. Everyone becomes "normal" which normal in Harrison Bergeron is being mentally slow and ignorant. If you are pretty, you have to walk around with a mask on, shave your eyebrows, and have a clown nose. If you are physically advanced, you have to walk around with a vest made of heavy lead.           Harrison Bergeron falls under the genre of dystopia. It is set in the future and is based around a crazy government who wants all of their citizens to be the exact same. The idea of dystopia brought up many questions about the story for me. A level one question is what is the relationship between Harrison and the other characters? Some level two questions are what is the point of making everyone equal and how does
