Beach Poem

Cool nights and warm days
Laying out and catching rays
By the pool or beachside
No complaints when outside
Swimming in the sea
Always being carefree
No worries or stress
Just every day being the best
The smell of sunscreen and saltwater lingering
As the moon and stars start twinkling
Starting the next day just the same
As the night begins  to fade away

I used end rhyme, euphony with some cacophony, and imagery.

  1. This is a very good example of imagery. This is because of the great describing words that you used.

Kayaking

This summer when I was at camp in Washington I went kayaking in the San Juan Islands. On the last day, there was a huge channel we had to cross. It was 6 miles long. On the channel, there were ferries, boats, and sailboats all crossing. Also, it was the most popular time of year for boats. To top it off, it was about to rain so the currents were even stronger. Aside from the currents and traffic, the water was crystal blue and the wind was blowing off the chilly water so the weather was perfect.        My group and I started on shore on the other side of our destination. We took a long break and then decided to cross the channel. The kayaking guides instructed us where to point our kayaks to break the currents. Once we started the adrenaline kicked in and we started to paddle through. At points, it felt as if we were getting pulled backwards but we kept having to paddle strongly. The best feeling was when we made it back to the harbor and...

Fall Break Free Post

Fall break is definitely one of my favorite breaks. It is a great break from school to relax and have fun. This past break, my mom and one of my friends mom surprised us with a trip to New York for our birthdays. We were both super excited and could not wait until we got there.        We had to get up at 3:30 Thursday morning to get to New Orleans to catch our flight. After the short plane ride, we did not waste any time, we jumped right in to doing things. We shopped the first day and went out to dinner for an early birthday dinner at the Sugar Factory. The next few days, we spent in Central Park, Little Italy, Brooklyn, and SoHo. Also, we went to see Hamilton. It was awesome! Overall, I had a very fun fall break and got a good break from studying and homework.

Reading Response: Harrison Bergeron

Harrison Bergeron was a very interesting short story. After reading it, I really had to process what was going on because of all the different action happening. The story is set in 2081, where everyone is equal. There is not one person who is better than another. Everyone becomes "normal" which normal in Harrison Bergeron is being mentally slow and ignorant. If you are pretty, you have to walk around with a mask on, shave your eyebrows, and have a clown nose. If you are physically advanced, you have to walk around with a vest made of heavy lead.           Harrison Bergeron falls under the genre of dystopia. It is set in the future and is based around a crazy government who wants all of their citizens to be the exact same. The idea of dystopia brought up many questions about the story for me. A level one question is what is the relationship between Harrison and the other characters? Some level two questions are what is the point...
